Season nine of Coke Studio has been getting a lot of criticism just two episodes in, with some fans criticising the show’s recent collaborations such as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Momina Mustehsan’s rendition of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s Afreen.
Amidst all the vitriol, however, Coke Studio has found an ally in Nescafe Basement producer, Xulfi, who has said on social media that everyone should “just stop hating.”
Speaking to media, Zulfiqar explained that he shared his message due to “the current criticism thrown at Coke Studio.”
In the post, the famed musician claimed that while liking or disliking the content is a matter of opinion, it is a great thing that music is part of our national conversation.
Xulfi also said that he hopes that collaborations keep taking place. “We are lucky to have music shows like Coke Studio and Nescafe Basement in our country,” he added.
Not everyone dislikes the current season though. A lot of people on Twitter continue to express their love for perhaps Pakistan’s most popular music show ever.
