British boxer Amir Khan visited Thar on Thursday, where he toured different villages to oversee the work of Amir Khan Foundation in the region.
Amir, along with his wife, arrived in Nagarparker district via a helicopter, from where the two, along with Pakistan Army officials, visited villages in Islamkot.
The UK-based pugilist posted pictures of his recent visit on Twitter, urging people to assist with the humanitarian effort of bringing clean water to the residents of the area.
The 29-year-old mixed with the locals during his tour and also thanked Pakistan Army officials for their constant support.
The Brit added that due to the foundation’s work, nearly 800 people are able to obtain clean drinking water and he hopes to continue in this effort.
Earlier this year, Khan held a high-end charity event, under the aegis of the Amir Khan Trust to raise funds for drilling two wells in Thar.
The boxer’s tour stretched over three days with a meet-and-greet at a local mall taking place on May 31, followed by a public workout at the Frere Hall the next day.
The main event, which featured eight international boxers, took place on June 2 at a local hotel.
“It is a fund-raising event to drill two water wells in Thar,” the organisers told media. “The main event will be properly recorded as Khan wants to bring international boxing to Pakistan.”
Meanwhile, hospitality partners of Amir Khan Trust, Pearl Continental Hotels, revealed that the charges for the Main Fight Night were set at Rs150,000 for a table of 10 people each.
