The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday allowed Mst Fatima to live with her husband Muhammad Riaz, with whom she had contracted a love marriage, and directed police officials to provide protection to them.

Firstly, the SHC had passed the orders to send Fatima, who had converted to Islam before getting married to Riaz, to the shelter home after she stated that she was forced for conversion and marry Riaz. However, after the court’s order, she started crying in the court on which the judge told her to record her statement without any fear. Then she informed the court that her parents had forced her to give this fake statement against her spouse.

“In fact I have converted to Islam and married Riaz with my free will and without any pressure. I don’t want to go to the shelter home but to live with my husband,” she added.

The SHC bench, headed by Justice Abdur Rasool Memon, allowed Fatima to go with her husband and directed the police to protect the couple. Earlier, the court was informed that the family members of Fatima had lodged a fake kidnapping case against Riaz. The court directed to quash the FIR and provide security to the newly-wed couple.
