Katy and Russell got engaged in India on New Year’s Eve last year. Since then, they have kept their wedding details a secret, till Katy’s friend Rihanna spilled the beans. Even though the duo has been suggesting places as far as Japan and the Arctic as the venue, a few days ago, Rihanna reportedly said that she’s excited about going to India. Reportedly, Lebanese designer Reem Acra has designed Katy’s bridal gown.
It has also been learnt that Mumbai-based designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock, who have designed an outfit for the singer’s London performance on the show “X-Factor”, may actually be doing a wedding ensemble for her. A source said, “They are constantly in touch with the stylist and if things go well, Katy might choose an ensemble from the creations they have ready with them currently.”
But it seems that the Katy and Russell wedding will be the only big one in Delhi for a few weeks. Actually, the post Commonwealth Games dates, say astrologers, are inauspicious according to the Hindu calendar, which is forcing many to look for November dates. Says astrologer Govinda Ahuja, “The auspicious dates were up to October 15. The next good phase begins only near November 11, 2010.”
Wedding planner Harjeet Singh says, “There are virtually no wedding bookings for days post Dussehra. People were avoiding this season for weddings due to the games, and now there are no good dates. We had a few enquiries for October 10, which was being considered significant and lucky because of the numerical arrangement (10-10-10). But even that didn’t materialise as no one wanted any games hassles. This was especially the case with people in South Delhi as most of the games venues were also there.”
Well, the capital might be going slow on weddings this month, but it seems that the season will be remembered for its big, fat Hollywood wedding!
