Provincial Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan termed Quetta blast a failure of intelligence agencies and demanded to chalk out a new security plan as the existing one has completely flopped.
“Let’s accept this assumption that foreign agencies are involved in such tragedies, tell us why our agencies failed to foil their agenda,” he asked while addressing a press conference at his party secretariat on Wednesday.
He questioned the government to tell why the security lapses still exist and why security plan was not reviewed.
He demanded to devise a new security plan and review where weaknesses exist to avoid such carnage in future.
Criticising the government for issuing condemnation statement after every tragedy, he asked the government to give up this ostrich like attitude as it would not help to solve the problems rather tangible steps be taken.
To a question that seminaries’ students are blamed for acts of terrorism, he said that JUI-F is purely a political party that believes in democratic struggle.
“Anyone who sees and uses any kind of violence as a tool to achieve goals or any act that harms innocent people or causes harm to Pakistan in un-Islamic ways, my party condemns them,” he said.
He challenged to show any student or teacher of any seminary registered under Wifaqul Madaris found involved in terrorism and said that students of modern educational institutions were behind acts of terrorism.
Harassment of Afghan refugees
The JUI-F provincial chief strongly condemned the harassment of Afghan refugees by the provincial government and its institutions and termed the mistreatment as illogical.
He stated they were invited under an international law and Pakistan should treat them well; arresting them and humiliating them would never be accepted.
“Confiscating cars, property and imposing different kinds of bans on Afghans is a violation of the international law and JUI-F strongly condemns it,” he said.
He said if the government is serious to repatriate them, they should be seen off with respect and dignity.
“First they are Pakthuns and second they are Muslims; therefore, we should not challenge their dignity as civilised people never humiliate brothers,” he commented.
He also came down heard on the chief minister for expressing his ignorance about harassment of Afghan refugees and said if chief executive of the province was not aware then what can we say about his team.
He said this is violation of human rights and JUI-F would not sit silent and threatened to take to the street if the abuse of ‘Afghan brothers’ continued.
Commenting on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) accountability movement, he said almost four years have passed but people are still waiting the change they were promised.
“What PTI has in hand (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa govt) is in shambles but trying to snatch what others have in hands (federal government),” he said.
He was of the view that the PTI government wants to hide its failure by launching such illogical drives and added when there are constitutional platforms then why it is choosing wrong paths.
