The National Assembly was informed on Wednesday that the government will conduct a population census in the country in March next year and funds have been allocated in this regard.
Parliamentary Secretary for Finance Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan told the House during question hour that the census was delayed due to unavailability of required security personnel as the Army is engaged in Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
He said all out efforts are being made and consultations with the stakeholders are under way to hold a transparent and fair census, which would be acceptable to everyone.
