Gohar Rasheed, who is famous for his negative roles on TV, has revealed that the audience took his wicked role of Mann Mayal very seriously.
In an interview, Gohar shared that he has been judged too many times and requests fans not to associate his real-life personality with his reel-life character.
The Mann Mayal actor shared an incident in which a woman came up to him and asked if he’s Mikael from Mann Mayal. When he said yes, she responded, “You are a bad person and you should leave this place before we slap you.”
“Had I stayed there a few moments longer, I would’ve probably gotten a slap,” said Gohar.
Gohar added that his character Mikael is so relatable for people which is why his character angers the audience.
“When the drama aired, I received messages from women on my Facebook page and profile saying, ‘Thank you so much for playing your character so well, our ex-husbands used to behave exactly like that; mistreating us while we used to sit naively and thinking no, he is my husband, there was also the societal pressure. Now after watching Mann Mayal we realise we were only ill-treating ourselves. Thank you so much for playing this role and you’re a terrible person’.”
The actor has played numerous negative roles. So when asked if he does not want to be a hero? He replied, “No, in our industry we have a lot of heroes, and whoever comes to become a hero.”
He shared how he’s now being typecast into playing only negative roles. “Most of the pappu boys in our industry who don’t know how to act and are still acting. They aren’t here on merit. I dislike them immensely,” he said.
When asked about his personal life, Gohar said, ‘Akelay ain hain akelay chalay jaingay.’ (You come in this world alone, you leave alone). He further added that he believes in fidelity and has been sincere in all his relationships.
He also noted that Fawad Khan did a great job in Kapoor & Sons.
“Fawad did a commendable job in the movie,” he said, adding that he wouldn’t mind taking up the role had he been given the chance.
