Australian bowler Mitchell Starc claimed that he considers a former Pakistani pacer, Wasim Akram to be his idol. Furthermore, he added that he believes Wasim to be an absolute “genius.”

Talking to the Herald Sun, Mitchell said that the veteran’s 414-wicket body of work in 104 matches set the standard for all left-armers. While talking about Wasim to the media Mitchell added “He was an absolute genius at bowling conventional swing, reverse swing, and bowling fast,” he said. “He set the standard of left-arm fast bowling.”
Moreover, Mitchell said that it would be great if he could be even half the bowler that Wasim was. The Australian pacer said that apart from being a skilful bowler, the 1992 World Cup winner is also approachable for advice to youngsters.

“Having the chance to work with him a couple of occasions, it’s fantastic to chat to him,” he said. “He’s really open and approachable. He’s great to talk to about left-arm fast bowling.” Starc has represented Australia in 26 Tests and 51 ODIs, and currently he is touring of Sri Lanka with the national side.
