The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) disconnected the electricity supply to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) due to non-payment of electricity dues despite repeated reminders.

According to reports, the CDA owes Rs 500 million to IESCO and despite repeated reminders the civic agency did not bother to clear the dues. This forced the utility service providers to cut off electricity supply to CDA offices, including traffic signals and street lights.

The suspension of power supply to signals created traffic problems at almost all the crossings in the federal capital. The Islamabad Traffic Police went into action immediately and deployed constables to regulate the traffic but it was difficult for the constables to stand in humid and hot weather to regulate the traffic for almost 20 hours.

The commuters said they suffered due to traffic jam at the crossing points and traffic police is unable to manage the rush during the morning hours.
