Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan on Monday approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) seeking protective bail in a newly registered anti-terrorism case regarding listening and arranging a provocative speech of his leader against national security agencies.
Izhar-ul-Hasan, who was also the opposition leader in Sindh Assembly, filed bail plea through his counsel submitting that the cases had been registered on political basis and he has nothing to do with these charges.
The petitioner added that he wants to face these charges before the court but feared that he could be arrested in the case. The court was directed to grant the protective bail to him.
The SHC is likely to take up his bail pleas on Tuesday (today).
Earlier, the cases had been registered at Azizabad police station against MQM chief and several leaders for delivering and arranging provocative speeches asking the workers to take the law in their hands.
Besides MQM chief, senior party leader Farooq Sattar, Hafeez Lakhani, Ameen-ul-Haq, Qamar Mansoor, Mehfooz Yar Khan and others were also nominated in the FIRs.
