Sindh CM visits little master, announces Rs1m for treatment

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited legend cricketer little master Hanif Mohammad at hospital and ordered immediate release of Rs one million for his treatment.

Talking to media, the chief minister said Hanif is a national asset and the provincial government would extend all assistance for his treatment. He presented him a bouquet and prayed for his early recovery.

In a lighter vein, the chief minister said that he would have been a cricketer if he had not joined the politics.

Hanif thanked the chief minister for visiting him. He also thanked Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif for inquiring about his health and extending financial assistance.

Shoaib Mohammad, son of Hanif on Sunday had sought help from the government and Pakistan Cricket Board for financial assistance for the treatment of his father.

Pakistani cricket legend Hanif, aged 81, was shifted to hospital after struggling with breathing problems and congestion.

After being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2013, Hanif underwent a surgery in London which helped bring it under control but the cancer spread with time.

Born on December 21, 1934 in Junagarh, Hanif played 55 test matches for Pakistan and averaged a fine 43.98 comprising 12 hundreds. At his peak, Hanif was considered one of the best batsmen in the world.
