John Abraham and Varun Dhawan’s buddy-cop film is mainly about flashy landscapes and elaborately planned action sequences.
The makers know their target audience and have kept the right mix of pace and twists in Dishoom. This one has no dearth of known faces and capable actors, and most of them know the requirements for a typical Bollywood potboiler. A big part of the action takes place in West Asia where these two are on a rescue mission.
The film features Jacqueline Fernandez and Akshay Khanna in pivotal roles and Akshay Kumar makes a cameo in the movie. Akshaye Khanna has returned to the silver screen after many years, and it looks like a wise decision.India’s top batsman Viraj (Saqib Saleem) is kidnapped right before an important India-Pakistan match, and he has to be rescued in time.
Otherwise, it may end up in soured bilateral ties between the neighbours. Director Rohit Dhawan has tried his best to keep the entertainment quotient high by inserting songs and high-speed chases at regular intervals. But, he hasn’t hesitated in reinstating clichés. So, it may look like a rehash of popular Hollywood cop films.
