Govt endeavours to improve facilities for university students: KP governor

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Wednesday said interests of students need to be safeguarded in all of our efforts to further improve facilities of higher learning and future development of universities in the province as well.

This, he said, while presiding over the Senate meeting of University of Peshawar at the Governor House.

Provincial Assembly Member Mahmood Jan, Islamabad Islamic University Rector and representatives of Higher Education Commission Prof Dr Masoom Yaseenzai, Peshawar University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rasool Jan, Principal Secretary to Governor Sikandar Qayyum, Higher Education Additional Secretary Khalid Khan and other members of the senate participated in the meeting.

The budget for the year 2016-17 was approved in the meeting. Peshawar University VC Dr Rasool Jan gave away a detailed briefing about the university activities.

He said the research work of 59 PhD scholars in various fields of the university is continued.

The senate took a strong exception to the constant trend of presenting deficit budget of the institution and stressed not only to cover financial deficiencies but also to maintain highest standards of administrative and financial management in every sphere of its working.
