The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has extended the protective bail of Move on Pakistan chief till July 28.

When IHC Judge Mohsin Akhtar Kayani took up the case for hearing on Monday, advocate Aslam appeared on behalf of the accused, Ali Raza and Asif Iqbal, while advocate general Mian Abdul Rauf represented the federation.

Advocate Aslam, while giving his arguments, prayed the court to extend the protective bail of his clients in the case.

Advocate General Mian Abdul Rauf, while opposing the plea for an extension, said the court had already granted a bail to the accused persons including the Chief Executive Ali Raza and Organiser Asif Iqbal. The high court is not a proper forum on this count, he added.

The counsel for the accused said a politically motivated case has been registered against his clients. As per law, the accused can resort to the high court against the cases instituted on a political basis.

The court extended the protective bail of the two accused till July, 28 and directed them to approach the trial court.

It is pertinent to say that several cases have been registered against Move on Pakistan Chairman Muhammad Kamran, chief executive Ali Raza and organiser Asif Iqbal for displaying posters throughout the country to incite the military leadership to take over the government.
