The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to adopt a two-pronged strategy for with the corruption case against Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, which was recently thrown out by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) due to ‘lack of incriminating evidence’.
The PTI leadership gave final touches to their plans for staging a demonstration in front of the NAB office scheduled for Monday (today) against “giving a clean chit to Ishaq Dar in a corruption case of over Rs 130 billion by closing the investigation against him”. The investigation against Dar had been initiated in 2001 during the Musharraf regime.
The party leadership has also decided to file a petition with the bureau against the finance minister for alleged money laundering.
The PTI spokesperson said the party’s legal team was given special directives in this regard and that the central leadership will file the petition with NAB even as the party stages a massive demonstration against the Bureau.
Sources said that the party has prepared some documents against the Sharif family and Ishaq Dar on their alleged involvement in money laundering cases, which will be made public during the protest rally.
They said that the party will reveal some startling facts today (Monday) against the finance minister pertaining to the case closed by the NAB.
On the other hand, the local administration has sealed off the Red Zone of the federal capital by placing containers at all the entry and exit points ahead of the protest rally.
In addition to blocking all the roads leading to the Red Zone by placing containers, the government has also deployed a huge police contingent in the area to deal with any untoward situation.
The PTI spokesperson condemned the move of sealing off the Red Zone and viewed it as an attempt to thwart the PTI from protesting in front of the NAB office.
He said the party will hold a peaceful demonstration in front of the bureau’s building at all costs.
He said that the government will be responsible for any unfortunate incident if their workers are not allowed to hold a peaceful demonstration against the bureau.
