A crane working on Orange Line Train project Sunday collided with motorcycle and rickshaw in Lahore’s Daroghawala area which killed at least four people.

The injured were immediately shifted to the Services Hospital for further medical assistance where the doctors said that one of the wounded persons is in critical condition.

The crane’s driver fled the scene after the mishap; however, police personnel had launched an investigation and arrested the culprit.

The deceased have been identified as 40-year-old Amjad, 10-year-old Nauman and a 28-year-old passerby.

Deadly accidents are common on roads across Pakistan due to bad road infrastructure and rampant disregard of traffic laws.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, over 9,000 road accidents are reported to the police every year, killing on average around 5,000 people.
