Karachi’s Heaps of Garbage

The PPP has been in power in Sindh for last eight years and every civic amenity in Karachi and interior has deteriorated as much as law and order. If recruitment to civic bodies are not made on merit and ghost employees continue to wreck and over burden every organisation than finally things had to collapse.  Chairman PPP Bilawal Z B must devote his energies to set his own house in order, otherwise very soon there is likely to be blow back in Sindh itself. How long can PPP ride on Bhutto Legacy and bank on Mohtarma’s Shahadat, without delivering anything on ground? It can meet same fate in its bastion of power that has befallen the party in AJK Elections.

There is a surplus of employees in Karachi Water Board, yet when a water pipe bursts, it takes days to plug leak, because majority of those employed lack competence to handle task.  Similar is situation with Karachi City administration, which is incapable of doing simple tasks such as collecting garbage and now stinking heaps are seen all over the city, including what were once considered to be posh localities like KDA, PECHS, Mohd Ali Society etc. The sad reality is that rot has set in Cantonment Boards of Clifton, Malir and DHA etc. Water does not flow from taps, not because it is not available, but because this water supply has been deliberately cut off and diverted to fill water tankers, which has assumed a Multi Billion mafia patronised by Cantonment, DHA and City Government.

Time is running out for PPP unless it wakes up and considers elected political office a responsibility to deliver to people, instead of a fiefdom to derive commercial benefits. PPP must appoint a competent CM who can deliver, not a crony incapable of handling heap of complex problems which are growing bigger by the day.
