SHC CJ Sajjad Ali all praise for Pak Army after son’s recovery

Sindh High Court (SHC)Chief Justice, Sajjad Ali Shah has hailed Pakistan Army as the forces played an important role in the recovery of his son Awais Ali Shah, nearly a month after he was kidnapped from Karachi.

“General Raheel Sharif called me at 3 am tonight and informed that my son has been recovered hale and hearty. The army chief and Director General DG Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) remained in contact with me throughout out the period… I’m thankful to them,” Sajjad Ali Shah spoke to media persons at his Karachi residence along with his son.

“The action was carried out by the army which is part of the government of Pakistan,” he said while replying to a question about government’s role in his son’s recovery.

Regarding a query about police role in recovery, apparently dissatisfied Chief Justice said, “it should be asked from them.”

He said DG ISI Major General Rizwan Akhtar had himself formulated a team which ultimately recovered Awais Shah.

Pakistani security forces have, today, rescued Awais Ali Shah during a raid in Tank area of country’s restive north-west region bordering Afghanistan.

Awais Ali Shah, a lawyer himself, was abducted last month from southern port city of Karachi.

“Awais Shah, son of Sindh Chief Justice recovered through an IBO (intelligence based operation) from the custody of terrorists from near Tank, 3 terrorists killed,” Pakistan army spokesman Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa said on Twitter.

Shah was last seen in a CCTV footage on June 21 shopping at a supermarket in Karachi’s Defence Housing Society, an upscale neighbourhood.

Army chief General Raheel Sharif “commended” intelligence and security forces for “successful operation”.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also congratulated the Sindh High Court chief justice Sajjad Ali Shah on the recovery of his son and praised security forces.

“The Prime Minister lauded the role of intelligence agencies and security forces in recovering Awais Shah and said that the professional and operational excellence of our security forces has made it possible for which they deserve immense appreciation,” a statement issued by Sharif’s office said.
