The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday ordered the insertion of murder section of the Pakistan Penal Code in the FIR that was registered against kidnapping of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) worker Riaz-ul-Haq whose dead body was found after 14 months of his missing.

The SHC bench was hearing the petition filed against the alleged assassination of MQM’s worker by the law enforcers. In the petition, it was submitted that Haq was picked up 14 months ago but neither his arrest was shown nor he was produced before any court of law.

The Landhi police, from whose jurisdiction Haq was whisked away, submitted a report stating that the MQM worker’s kidnapping case was registered a year ago and his dead body was found on July 30.

The court directed the police to insert murder clauses in the FIR and probe his murder.
