Heavy rains, thunderstorms to hit parts of Punjab, KP

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has issued alert as Met Office has forecast heavy rains and thunderstorm in Punjab and parts of KP from Monday (today).

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a new spell of monsoon rains will start in the country from Monday (today) and will continue till Thursday.

The Met office while issuing a flood alert has forecasted torrential rains in Karachi on July 12 and 13.

PDMA says heavy rains can cause flash floods at different places of the KP province.

The authority has directed district administrations throughout the province to be vigilant and take precautionary measures to avert human and material losses.

Various areas of Punjab will also receive rainfall.

Rain/dust-thunderstorm accompanied by windstorm is expected at scattered places in Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions) and Kashmir while at isolated places in KP (Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, D.I. Khan divisions), Bahawalpur, Sukkar , Mirpur Khas, Zhob divisions and FATA in the next 48 hours.

Hot & humid weather would continue in other parts of the country.
