The US Counterterrorism and Intelligence Subcommittee chairman has announced to hold a dialogue over Pakistan’s role in combating terrorism in the coming days.
The House will initiate discussion on the topic ‘Is Pakistan a friend of the US in eliminating terrorism or not’. After the debating session, the lawmakers will ask President Obama to frame new policy regarding Pakistan.
The chairman said that Pakistan is not taking strict action against the terrorists like the US and other democratic countries. He said that the participants will talk about the aid which is being given to Pakistan annually.
On the other hand, a Congressman Matt Salmon alleged that Pakistan is still maintaining double standards; therefore, he said the time has come that the US government enforce check and balance on the aid given to Pakistan.
He said that some questions will also be raised before the Obama administration in order to reach the final conclusion.
According to reports, the meeting will be attended by all the Congress chairmen and members, former US ambassador in Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad, Defence Analyst Bill Roggio and Assistant Professor in an American university, Teresa Bacon.
