Dengue fever effects 17 in Rawalpindi

Despite anti-dengue campaigns to eliminate the disease, the syndrome persisted to rise during the Eidul Fitr holidays as at least three more patients were admitted in different hospitals, increasing the toll of dengue patients to 17.

According to details, the Punjab government had issued directives to district health department to revoke the Eidul Fitr holidays of workers of anti-dengue campaign to continue the drive. Sources said the anti-dengue campaigners recovered dengue larvae from 107 places which has alarmed the district authorities.

The provincial government has taken notice of the alarming situation and has expressed its determination to wipe out dengue from the province. The officials of district health department said that any kind of neglect during the anti-dengue campaigns would be intolerable. They said in order to achieve the goal, it is essential that citizens should also play their role by cooperating with staff to eliminate the dengue larvae.
