A national plantation campaign would kick off on August 14, said the Federal Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid on Wednesday while chairing an inter-provincial meeting on the tree plantation campaign and Green Pakistan Programme at the ministry of climate change.
He added that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would launch the Green Pakistan Programme and inaugurate the Monsoon Tree Planting Campaign 2016.
The meeting decided that federal, provincial and local governments would make arrangements for planting trees in Islamabad and provincial, divisional, district and tehsil headquarters.
Suitable sites, they said, would be selected at each station while facilities to plant trees would be provided by government departments concerned.
