Youm-e-Ali processions begin under tight security cover

Youm-e-Ali (RA), the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA), processions are being carried out under tight security cover across the country Monday (today).

In Karachi, the mourning procession will emerge from Nishtar Park and will reach MA Jinnah Road. Police personnel have visited different localities and conducted search operation to ensure the security measurements.

According to the security plan, 4244 policemen will be deployed in South Zone of the city, along with 3896 personnel in West Zone and 1519 policemen in East Zone of the metropolis to ensure no untoward incident takes place on the occasion. Women officers will also be deployed for the security duty.

On the other hand, Sindh Home Ministry issued a notification, announcing a ban on pillion riding across Karachi and Hyderabad from June 26 till June 28.

The ban will not be applicable to women, people with disabilities, elderly people, journalists and children under the age of 12.

In Lahore, Central procession of Youm-e-Ali is being carried out-out from Imambargah Mubarak Haveli, inside Akbari Mandi.

Earlier, a Majlis-e-Aza in connection with Shahadat Hazrat Ali (RA) will be held and speakers will highlight various aspects of the life of Hazrat Ali (RA).

The central procession will reach Kashmiri Bazaar at the time of Zuhr prayers after passing through its traditional route of Chowk Nawab Sahib, Lal Khoo, Mughal Haveli, Mohalla Shi’an, Nisar Haveli, Chhota Mufti Baqar and Chowk Masjid Wazir Khan.

The procession will conclude at Karbala Gamey Shah in the evening after passing through its route of Paniwala Talab, Shahi Mohalla, Bazaar Hakeeman and Ounchi Masjid inside Bhatti Gate.

The Lahore police have made foolproof security arrangements on Youm-e-Ali. On the other hand, a security plan has been prepared by the authorities in Lahore as more than 5000 police and security officers will be deployed for security duty on Youm-e-Ali (R.A).

The Dolphin Squad and police quick response unit would patrol the route of the central procession while parking arrangements had been made at Nasser Bagh for participants of the procession.

Security had been beefed up at entry and exit points of the city.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has issued instructions to officials of police, administration and concerned agencies regarding foolproof security arrangements throughout the province on the occasion of Youm-e-Ali. Issuing directions to concerned officials, the chief minister said that all out resources should be utilised for ensuring foolproof security arrangements and routes of processions should be strictly monitored. He said that implementation of security plan should be ensured at all costs and the steps taken in connection with security should be digitally monitored.

Monitoring of sensitive areas is being carried out through CCTV cameras.
