Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has directed all government departments to chalk out a special dengue surveillance plan for Eid holidays.
Presiding over a meeting of the cabinet committee on dengue at civil secretariat on Friday, he said due to excessive monsoon rains, there were chances of increase in dengue breeding sites as well as dengue larvae and that all the stakeholders should work hard to check the dengue virus.
Senior officers of all concerned departments attended the meeting while commissioners and DCOs of Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura and Multan participated in the meeting through video link.
The representatives of Meteorological Department informed that after a few days, regular monsoon season would start during which excessive rains were expected.
Additional Director General Dengue Control Programme Dr. Fayyaz Butt briefed the meeting about the dengue situation in Punjab.
Prof Wasim Akram In-charge Chief Minister Dengue Research Cell stressed the need to remove errors in the data of dengue patients and said that administration of the hospitals should work with close liaison of the PITB.
