Lawyers’ boycott across the city on Friday entered the fourth day as they stayed away from courts to record their protest against kidnapping of Owais Ali Shah. The legal fraternity of Karachi threatened to initiate movement for the recovery of Advocate Shah, son of Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.

While addressing a joint press conference, the representatives of Karachi Bar Association and Malir Bar Association stated that they would initiate a movement for the recovery of their colleague advocate. “If Advocate Owais Ali Shah is not recovered within three days, they will observe more strikes.”

The son of Justice Sajjad Ali Shah was kidnapped outside a superstore in DHA. It can be seen in CCTV footage of the store on aired after his alleged kidnapping that Ovais was busy in shopping. His car was found abandoned near Punjab Chowrangi.

The courts across the city continued to wear a deserted look as the lawyers did not appear to plead their cases since Tuesday. They were on strike from Tuesday to Thursday on the call of local lawyers’ bodies but on Friday they stayed away from court responding to a call of the Pakistan Bar Council.

The boycott of courts has been causing difficulties for the litigants as well as under-trial prisoners whose cases are not being heard for the last four days.
