Sindh Inspector General AD Khwaja said on Wednesday said that no phone call or message had been received from kidnappers regarding abduction of Sindh High Court Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah’s son, Awais Sajjad Shah.
Talking to media, the IG said that investigation into the matter was underway as all the concerned officials had been contacted.
He said that police and law enforcement agencies were trying hard to recover the victim as several suspects had been taken into custody from different localities. AD Khawaja revealed that the incident happened at about 2:30pm but the family informed police at 9:15pm. He also termed Awais’ kidnapping as important and a high profile case. He said had the citizens, who witnessed the kidnapping, informed police in time, they would have arrested the kidnappers. The officer also criticised locals for not filing complaints over continuous criminal activities in the metropolis.
On June 20, SHC CJ’s son Awais Sajjad went missing from Clifton shopping mall while his mobile phone was switched off since afternoon. Following the incident, officers of special security unit along with police started snap checking in the metropolis at all its entry and exit points while security was also tightened at Super Highway and National Highway. An eight-member investigation committee of police was also formed to probe into the matter.
LAWYERS CONTINUE STRIKE ON 2ND DAY
Litigants faced difficulties as lawyers continued boycott of legal proceedings in city court, Malir court and the high court against abduction of Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah’s son, Owais Ali Shah, for the second day on Wednesday.
Lawyers had called a strike in different courts including Sindh High Court the other day in after kidnapping of the chief justice’s son. Prisoners were not shifted to courts for hearings due to the strike.
Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah’s son was kidnapped Sunday in Clifton after he left a superstore. Preliminary details of the incidents suggest that kidnappers did a reccee and they had the required information to execute their plan.
The lawyers in their meetings demanded of the government to ensure safe and immediate recovery of the son of SHC chief justice. They said the abduction was a proof that the lives of the citizens were not secure and terrorists could strike at will.
