The Young Nurses Association (YNA), Sindh, Saturday demanded of the health department to urgently call departmental promotion committee (DPC) meeting for promotion of nurses to next grade.

Talking to PPI, YNA Sindh President Ejaz Ahmed Kaleri said that the health department had failed to call DPC meeting since last four years in the province. He said that delay in promotions of nursing instructors from grade 17 to grade 18 had badly affected the administrative affairs in schools of nursing across the province.

He said nursing sector was on the verge of collapse in Sindh due to lethargy of health department bosses. He said about 18 posts of grade 18 were lying vacant in the province. He said several posts of principals and vice-principals in schools of nursing throughout the province were lying vacant or occupied by nursing instructors of grade 17.

He said nursing institutions and hostels were in dilapidated condition in the province. The YNA president said that authorities concerned were deliberately using delaying tactics in promotion of nurses which had created uncertainty among the nursing community.

He demanded of the secretary health to hold departmental promotion committee meeting in the province on urgent basis; otherwise, the YNA will approach court to get promotions.
