The rumour mills are abuzz in the federal capital that things aren’t all too well between the civil government and the military. But when aren’t the rumour mills abuzz with this talk?
Though this time, things appear to be serious. At the best, they would be only serious enough for the general to get an extension. At worst, things might get a little more serious. This second scenario isn’t all too likely but stranger things have happened in our hapless republic.
If the extension is, indeed, granted, there will be much fight over the optics, with the recipient pretending it wasn’t sought and the benefactor pretending it was forced.
