The Lahore High Court on Friday dismissed a petition questioning the recent increase in salaries of members of the National Assembly (MNAs), declaring it non-maintainable.
Justice Shahid Karim heard the petition, filed by Muhammad Mukhtar. The court had reserved the verdict after hearing arguments.
Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that the MNAs had recently increased their perks and privileges, though the common man was facing worst financial hardships. He requested the court to set aside the increase in salaries of the MNAs which was declared non-maintainable by the bench.
