CM’s adviser displeased by poor anti-dengue measures in Pindi

Advisor to the Punjab Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique has expressed dissatisfaction over the anti-dengue activities carried out by the government departments in Rawalpindi.

While presiding over a meeting to review the dengue control measure in the DCO office, Rawalpindi, the advisor said that if dengue epidemic situation prevailed in Rawalpindi, concerned government departments would be held responsible and zero tolerance would be shown in dengue control activities.

Rafique said that according to the instruction of the CM Shehbaz Sharif, all resources including human resource are being provided to the concerned departments and institutions according to their needs The Dengue Expert Advisory Group has imparted training to the doctors and nurses for case management of dengue, he added.

The district government, as well as the provincial department, are regularly monitoring the anti-dengue activities to ensure an effective control on dengue, he said, and added, the government is providing maximum resources and facilitating the departments, therefore, no negligence from any department would be acceptable.

He further said that last year there were a lot of dengue patients reported in Rawalpindi, but due to extraordinary arrangements in the hospitals hundreds of lives of dengue patients were saved. He added that due to a forecast of heavy monsoon rains, there is a need to remain more vigilant and alert.

Officers of districts administration and senior officers of concerned government departments attended the meeting.
