LAHORE – The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Likeminded has issued a third white paper against the government, saying both ruling parties at the Centre and provincial level should announce fresh general elections after accepting their failure. PML-Q Likeminded Punjab Information Secretary Mian Asif told a news conference that the volume of foreign loans had increased to $64 billion, electricity shortfall had risen to 5,000MW, 150 drone attacks had taken place and 621 terrorist acts had claimed 3,680 lives across the country.
Asif said the price of electricity for a user that consumed only 100 units had also been increased by 300 percent. He said annual crimes had risen to 300,000 and alleged that Raymond Davis had been released with a mutual understanding of the provincial and federal governments. He said the above mentioned issues and details provided in the white paper demanded the PPP and PML-N leadership allow fresh mandate by holding general elections instead of putting more burden and creating more problems for the people.
Asif claimed that the Punjab government was facing a deficit of Rs 80 billion, while foreign reserves were decreasing with every passing day, adding that foreign investment volume had decreased to $1.8 billion from $8.4 billion. Holding both the PPP and PML-N responsible for the worst ongoing political and economic scenario, Asif said even haj pilgrims were looted. Asif added that 10,734 people had committed suicide across the country during the last three years and the foreign aid provided by the donor countries for the flood victims had also been “lost”.
He said that after the failure of Sasti-Roti scheme, the masses were being fooled in the name of Aashiyana Housing Project. To a question, he said the PML-N leaders had claimed to bring down the price of daily use commodities to 1999 era, but the PML-Q Likeminded challenged them to try to even get the prices down to the 2007 level.
