The shadow judge of the Taliban group identified as Qazi Mohsin was wounded during an operation in northern Baghlan province of Afghanistan, local media reported on Monday.

Afghan Ministry of Defense (MoD) said at least 15 Taliban militants were killed during the operations conducted in Dand-e-Ghori.

According to a statement by the MoD, the Taliban militants suffered the casualties as part of Naveed#1 operations being conducted to suppress the activities of the group.

The statement further added that Qazi Mohsin was appointed by the Taliban as group’s shadow judge in Dand-e-Ghori where the Taliban militants were once looking to create safe havens.

MoD said the operations, Naveed#1, are being implemented by the 209th Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces.

The Taliban militant group has not commented regarding the report so far.

Dand-e-Ghori and Dand-e-Shahabuddin are among the volatile areas in northern Baghlan province where the Taliban insurgents have been attempting to expand foothold during the past several months.

The Afghan security forces launched a major operation earlier this year in Dand-e-Ghori to eliminate threats posed by the group in this province.

The operations were launched amid concerns that the group was looking to establish safe havens in Dand-e-Ghori and prepare for the spring offensive of the group to launch attacks in the north using the area.
