Two al Qaeda terrorists confess planning major terror attack in Karachi

Two recently arrested al Qaeda militants, identified as Abdul Basit and Muhammad Nauman, said that they had planned a major terror attack in Karachi which was foiled by the police personnel.

The investigation officer said on Monday that the alleged arrested al Qaeda terrorists had received training from Afghanistan’s Gomal district.

The officers told that the detainees are expert in bomb making and using heavy weapons.

The terrorists also claimed the killing of security officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the attack on Afghan Army’s camp on the occasion of Eid.

The police prepared a report after recording the statements of the suspects. The report also mentioned that the al Qaeda members have carried out sectarian killings in Karachi.

The terrorists were apprehended from Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal 13-D while an anti-aircraft gun, five kilograms of ball bearings, 70 rounds, hand grenades and detonators were also recovered from their possession.
