MULTAN – Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) has established SME sub-contracting and outsourcing for forging strong links between big and medium or small engineering units to bring further business to small firms from large well established corporations operating both omestically or abroad. Alina Durrani, the Multan coordinator of SMEDA, told media that the initiative has been launched as a pilot project at Gujranwala to later cover the engineering sector across Pakistan.
The linkage through the outsourcing exchange will enable small or medium units have work orders from big firms for manufacturing parts or products, she explained. It would cover light engineering like fans, autos, small parts or others and SMEDA will coordinate with the engineering units to get orders from international firms as well. SMEDA would also extend help to engineering units to enhance capacities.
