Says govt only trying to isolate PTI and create divisions among opposition; PTI to discuss future strategy with opposition parties after Tuesday’s meeting

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi met party chairman Imran Khan Sunday and advised him to part ways with the ‘useless’ Parliamentary Committee tasked with devising Terms of References (TORs) for a commission to probe the Panama Leaks.

According to sources, Qureshi briefed Imran at his residence in Bani Gala about the consultations so far held with the government members in the Parliamentary Committee.

Qureshi told the chairman that the government is not serious in chalking out TORs that will also be acceptable to the opposition parties, the sources said.

He said that the government is making all out efforts to protect PM’s family from investigation.

“We are well aware of the government’s desire of sidelining Tehreek-e-Insaf,” PTI’s verified Twitter account quoted Qureshi as saying.

“A strategy will be chalked out after consulting the leaders of opposition parties on Tuesday,” he added.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan said on Saturday that he will bring some 10 per cent Pakistanis on the roads to ensure that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif does not avoid accountability for amassing illegal wealth abroad.

During the meeting, various issues including organising party workers for a possible protest movement against corruption across the country were discussed. PTI Central Secretary Information Naeemul Haq was also present on the occasion.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the government is making all-out efforts to isolate the PTI on the issue of Panama Leaks and put a fissure in the opposition; however, he vowed that the PTI leadership will foil all such tactics and efforts of the government.

He said the PTI will not take a solo flight on the issue of Panama Leaks and will decide its future course of the action after taking the opposition into confidence.

Qureshi said that the PTI will hammer out future strategy after the Parliamentary Committee’s meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

PTI Election Commissioner Senator Nouman Wazir also met Imran Khan and told him that the PTI membership data is so effective that it is easy to contact millions of party workers.

The election commissioner said that millions of people from across the country are linked to PTI database and the process is still ongoing.
