South African carrying 84 heroin capsules held at Karachi airport

The Pakistan Customs’ Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC) arrested a South African passenger at Jinnah International Airport Karachi on Monday after it recovered 84 capsules filled with heroin from his body cavities.
The Customs DEC staff intercepted a South African passenger Willem Adriaan Swanepoel at the international departure hall of the Karachi airport when he arrived there to board Emirates Airlines’ flight EK-603 for Antananarivo (Madagascar) using an expensive and complex route via Dubai, Nairobi and Johannesburg.
Radiology examination revealed the heroin-filled capsules hidden inside his body cavities.
The passenger was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre Hospital, where the capsules containing 1,150 grams of heroin were recovered from his body.
The passenger was arrested and a prosecution case under Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997 was registered against him.
