CDWP clears 14 projects worth Rs1.114tr

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) cleared 14 development projects, mostly in the energy sector. At a meeting chaired by the Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, the CDWP cleared four major projects worth Rs1.114 trillion and recommended the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) to approve them.

The four major projects that were recommended to Ecnec included Gwadar-Nawabshah LNG terminal and pipeline project (GNP), procurement of 75 diesel electric locomotives (55 engines of 4000-4500 HP & 20 of 2000-2500 HP) at a cost of Rs45.796bn, upgradation of railway’s existing mainline -1 (ML-1) and establishment of a dry port near Havelian and improvement and widening of N-45 (130.22 km) at a cost of Rs870.472 bn.

Projects included the approval of Sindh Resilience Project, rehabilitation of NTDC project and the computerization of PM Secretariat (Phase II) among others.
