NADRA to dissolve 16 DG vacancies

The Interior Ministry has notified the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to dissolve 16 vacancies of directors general.

According to the notification, 26 officials were working as directors general in the registration department and the number is cut to 10 now. NADRA, as of now has five field directors after the development.

Sources privy to the ministry stated that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan visited the national database headquarters at least four times after Mullah Akhtar Mansour was killed in Balochistan last month. He then decided to dissolve sixteen posts of directors general.

Meanwhile, charges for smart card issuance have been reduced to Rs 400 from Rs 1,500 to give the people some benefit.

A spokesperson for the ministry said that issuance of urgent card will cost the people Rs 800, while Rs 1,600 will be charged for an executive smart card.

NADRA came under fire after Mansoor’s killing, as he was listed in NADRA’s books as a resident of Chaman named Muhammad Wali.

The interior minister then announced to rid the organisation of corruption and to take strict steps in this regard.
