Punjab Mineral Development Corporation (Punjmin) Chairman Mian Noman Kabir has said that Punjab Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) will be made a vibrant institution for the investment of national and international investors.
While addressing the officers of department on Thursday, Kabir said that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to set the department on modern lines in professional manners.
Kabir said that the restructuring plan will be formulated soon for submission to the committee constituted by the chief minister. There was no check and balance in the past for leasing the mines but no mine will be given on lease now without legal formalities.
The Punjmin chairman said that the minerals in Punjab are a gift of God and we should utilise them in a modern way so that we can get local and foreign investment. Chief Minister Sharif is very keen for the promotion of natural resources and mines across the province of Punjab, he said.
He said that practical measures will be adopted in accordance with the international standards to observe the security of mine workers to protect the precious lives. We are also planning to increase the production of salt mines to three times, he said. He added that policies will be chalked out to generate investment opportunities in the province.
