Pakistan has been in talks with the United States for the deal over F-16 jets, Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer has said.

Interacting with a group of reporters here, the minister said that Pakistan would approach other countries if its talks over the F-16 fighter jets with the US failed.

Tanveer however said that JF-17 Thunder could meet the country’s defence requirements as it had all the specifications of any state-of-the art fighter jet.

To a media query, the minister said that small arms were being produced and exported by the Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) to many countries, such as the United States, Britain and Germany. He also said that the country’s defence was unassailable and could meet all challenges.

Tanveer, to another question, said that Pakistan was in talks with Russia for acquisition of MI-35 helicopters and expressed his optimism that a development would take place in the upcoming months.

MI-35 is the upgraded version of Russian-made MI-24 attack and transport helicopter.

Several countries of the world including India are using this helicopter which is also called ‘flying tank’ for its fighting capability.

  1. So in other words pakistan is still on its knees begging for Aid for the F-16s. Does pakistan have no self-respect? Beggars are better, at least they move on once you say NO.
