Jaffarabad by-poll resheduled for May 24

QUETTA – Due to deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has extended by-election on PB-26 Jaffarabad for a month on Saturday that was scheduled to be conducted on April 25.
Official sources said that keeping in view the prevailing law and order and non-completion of rehabilitation process of flood affectees in Jaffarabad, the by-election on the seat of Balochistan Assembly was extended for one month.
According to the ECP, now the election would be held on May 24. Meanwhile, a large number of National Party and Jamaat-e-Islami activists blocked the National Highway linking Sindh with Balochistan against the extension of date of by-elections.
