Ayaz Sadiq rejects need of caretaker prime minister

National Assembly (NA) Speaker and senior Pakistan Muslims League-Nawaz leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has rejected the need for a caretaker prime minister of Pakistan.

He stated this while talking to media persons in an event here on Sunday during which participants prayed for speedy recovery and long health of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The event was attended by several PML-N leaders and his loyalists where they made supplication for the PM’s health.

Ayaz Sadiq informed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s open heart surgery would take place on Tuesday morning. “Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will preside over tomorrow’s meeting through Skype,” he added.

The NA speaker also revealed that the prime minister would give a speech regarding budget and other issues via video link. He said the prime minister would also preside over the Economic Council and budget meetings via Skype.

Commenting on the recent government-opposition meetings to determine the Terms of References (ToRs), Ayaz Sadiq said he had advised both sides to develop consensus over TORs through mutual consultation.

The speaker NA said that he was present in the first meeting regarding the ToRs.

Sadiq also said that he had advised the parliamentary committee members not to speak to the media till anything was not finalized. He also paid credit to the members of the parliamentary committee and said that members from both sides harboured positive intentions with regard to the ToRs.
