‘Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme’ continuing speedily: Shehbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme, which is the biggest project of repair and rehabilitation of rural roads in the history of the country, is continuing speedily.

While talking to a delegation of assembly members belonging to various districts on Saturday, he said that under this programme, several roads have been repaired and constructed so far. He said that a huge amount of Rs 150 billion will be spent on this project which will change the living standard of rural masses. He said that such a big programme of repair and rehabilitation of rural roads has never been inititated in the history of the country. He said that “Pakian Sarkan—Saukhay Painday” is a milestone in the prosperity of rural economy and will bring a revolution in rural life.

The chief minister said that repair and rehabilitation of roads under Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme is a revolutionary and historic step. He said that modern means of communication play an important role in accelerating trade and economic activities and keeping in view this fact, the Punjab government is spending billions of rupees on the project of infrastructure development.

He said that modern means of communication are the secret of progress and prosperity of the country. Sharif said that the best infrastructure of communication is the backbone of the country and provides a strong foundation for economic development.

The chief minister said that Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme is of vital importance for the stability and development of rural economy and is a game changer in this regard. He said that repair and rehabilitation of rural roads is promoting economic and trade activities in rural areas. He said that Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme will directly benefit farmers and the people living in rural areas. He said that new job opportunities have been created in villages due to implementation of the programme of repair and rehabilitation of rural roads and thousands of people have benefited from the project.

The chief minister added that the maintenance and protection of the roads constructed under this programme is a national responsibility and there is a need for adopting effective measures for this purpose. He said that progress and prosperity of the people living in villages is the motto of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government and timely, quality and transparent completion of development projects is the policy of the Punjab government.

He said that the PML-N government has promoted transparency and standard in projects and funds of billions of rupees have been saved. He said that the government is working with sincerity for the welfare of the masses. Sharif said that the elements criticising public welfare projects are not sincere to the people. He said that a journey of progress and prosperity has been started under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the elements involved in politics of protest are once again trying to waste the precious time of the nation. Enlightened people of the country will not be hoodwinked and they will not allow anyone to hamper the process of progress and development, he added.
