Urban and rural areas equally benefitting from Punjab govt’s balanced policy: CM Shehbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting on Friday to review the pace of progress of public welfare projects.

Important features of development programmes for next fiscal year were also considered.

The chief minister, while addressing the meeting, said that urban and rural areas are equally benefitting from Punjab government’s balanced policy of development and projects of billions of rupees are being carried out for the progress and prosperity of rural population. He said that 10 per cent extra quota has been fixed for welfare programmes in districts of southern Punjab which will benefit the people living in these areas.

He said that Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme and Saaf Pani Project have also been started for the progress and prosperity of rural populous and funds of more than Rs 200 billion would be provided during next two years for these two projects. He said that the project of provision of clean drinking water would be executed on priority basis and supply of potable water to rural population would be ensured during next two years. He said that billions of rupees would be spent on the development of backward areas in the next financial year.

The chief minister said that the journey of development of the province and prosperity of the people will continue with commitment during next financial year as well. He said that improvement of education, health and other social sectors is among the priorities of the government and complete attention would be paid to uplift these sectors.

He said that agriculture and livestock sectors play an important role in the stability of economy, therefore, due attention would be paid for the development of these sectors for prosperity of cultivators and solution of the problems of farming community.

The chief minister said that special attention would be paid for the development of agriculture sector and betterment of farmers and a huge amount of Rs 100 billion would be provided for this purpose during next two years. He said that solution of problems of farmers is the responsibility of the government. He said that revolutionary measures would be taken for development of agriculture sector and welfare of farmers.

He said that it is also among the priorities of the government to equip the youth with vocational education and skilled manpower would be developed according to market needs. He said that such development projects would be evolved during next financial year as they would benefit maximum population and would provide relief to common man in the real sense.

The chief minister further said that the welfare of common man and speedy development of the province is the pivot of policies of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government and it is engaged in the mission of selfless service to the people. He said that all our resources have been provided for the prosperity of people and development of the province and work is being carried out expeditiously on development projects worth billions of rupees. He said that transparency, standard and speedy completion of projects is the hallmark of the PML-N government and no compromise would be made on quality of construction. The chief minister issued instructions for timely completion of welfare projects so that people could benefit from the fruits of development in the real sense.
