Mobilisation advance for 27 Orange Line trains paid

The local government has expedited the implementation of Orange Line Metro Train project as first mobilisation advance for as many as 27 trains has been paid to a Chinese company.

China Railways and Norinco company have been given a mobilisation advance for 27 trains, said Khawaja Ahmed Hassan, the chairman of the steering committee made to monitor ongoing development of the OLMT project.

He said the trains would be computerised and would move without drivers. “Each train will have five bogies with each coach having a capacity of two hundred passengers,” he added.

According to Hassan, nearly 0.2 million people will travel through Orange Line train daily.

The OLMT project will cost $1.6 billion and will be completed within 27 months. The train has 27.1 kilometre-long route, spreading from Ali Town (Raiwind Road) to Dera Gojran.
