A search operation was launched at Adiyala Jail on Wednesday (today) and the authorities seized four G devices, mobile phones and other prohibited items from the possession of prisoners.
According to reports, the operation was launched by the jail authorities with the help of security agencies on a tip-off that telephone calls were being made from Jail by the prisoners for extortion purposes.
The jail authorities verified that the threatening calls were made from the jail.
A thorough investigation would be conducted to find out how the telephones and other prohibited items reached the inmates.
