Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said that maintenance of law and order and protection of life and property is the top priority of the provincial government.
He said that while talking to a representative delegation of Majalis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen who called on him at the CM Secretariat Peshawar on Tuesday.
The delegation was led by Nasir Abbass Sherazi. Provincial Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Special Assistant to CM for Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, MNA Sheryar Afridi, Home Secretary Capt (r) Munir Azam, Inspector General Police Nasir Durrani and others were present on the occasion.
The delegates apprised the Chief Minister of the problems faced by the Shite community. The delegates put forth a number of suggestions for maintenance of law and order, and restoration of peace in the province. They also assured government of every sort of cooperation in this regard.
Law and order situation in the province and steps being taken by the government to combat terrorism were discussed in detail on the occasion. The CM assured steps for overcoming problems faced by the Shite community. He also directed the concerned authorities to fulfill demands presented by the delegates according to the prevailing laws.
Khattak ordered constitutions of a committee comprising public representatives for effective liaison among government, administration and local people. He informed that confidence of the people had been restored in the institutions due to practical steps initiated by the government. He further said that the police department was being transformed into a service oriented department, while the process of prosecution was also being improved.
