On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Punjab Mineral Development Corporation (Punjmin) has planned to increase production of salt mines three times.

Each mine in Khushab, Khewra and Joharabad are currently providing 2,000 to 3,000 tonnes of salt daily which will be enhanced to 9,000 tonnes.

Punjmin Chairman Mian Nauman Kabir, while addressing the meeting, urged the officers to adopt latest mining techniques as per international standards.

Kabir said that the department has collected the data regarding natural resources and mines through a survey made by Geo Information System (GIS).

Punjab has a lot of potential in natural resources and mines and local and foreign investors have many opportunities to invest, he added.

He further said that the chief minister is very keen for the promotion of natural resources and mines across the province and the data was collected accordingly.  This initiative will help generate investment opportunities in the province and will open new employment opportunities for youth, he said.
