The water borne diseases and illnesses caused by food shortages are creating more problems for Thar’s people and children who are deprived of food and water. Recently, three more children died of famine in drought hit areas, taking the deaths toll to as high as 260 in this year. As many as hundreds of children have deteriorating conditions and can die at any time. It has been four years in a row that the Thar’s people are suffering and striving to survive and that their children are dying on a daily basis but where is the government, who had promised to provide the rights of human being. Why are our leaders silent? Why are they not ready and agreeing to help Thar’s people? Unfortunately they are not showing any mercy to small kids and seem to be making fun of their lives. It is the responsibility of health concern authorities to put a step forward for the protection of these small kids and provide all important facilities, which are very necessary for them to survive. Otherwise, they’re just leaving them to die.

The desert of Thar is shared between Pakistan and India. But we still have to read that disaster on the Indian side. PPP, the political party with corruption tag, is ruling the only enclave of PPP and that situation ? The whole leadership has closed their eyes towards this one of the most deprived areas of the country. They are enjoying the luxuries of seven star hotels in Europe and the Gulf and the other half is busy reviving it in Punjab and AK. Hundreds of children are dying of starvation and necessities of life. What a contrast in the political terrorism.
Building a canal for Thar is not the problem, the problem is finding water for the canal, the 44.5 million acre feet made available to Sindh with the commissioning of Tarbela dam is fully committed to irrigation and town supplies and still there are shortages, it is only another dam which can increase supply to Sindh, there would have been no problem in Thar if Kalabagh dam had been built/
